I started writing my poems when my son was posted to one of the sand pits. I found them a good release to the many emotions I was feeling whilst he was posted. I have posted a few for your enjoyment. It is difficult to explain what a mother goes through when their loved one is posted to such a dangerous place. I know that many people disapprove of these wars, but he joined up to serve his country and I am proud of him. I have seen it from both sides of the fence so have first hand experience as to what really goes on out there. I am immensly proud of all our servicemen and women and personally they deserve so much support and respect. Many of my poems are dedicated to these brave men and women.... enjoy.

A Prayer for our Soldiers

As we all lay down to sleep
We pray for the lives of our soldiers to keep
Give them the courage to face dangers they see
Give them the strength to make their enemies flee

Give them support whenever needed
Don’t let their thoughts become impeded
Keep them focussed on their mission
Don’t let anything impair their vision

Give them the knowledge that the hearts and minds shared
Really does make a difference and lives are spared
Give them the comfort that their loved ones back home
Will always be with them so they don’t feel alone

Let them know that we’re all so proud
That they are all heroes standing out from the crowd
That we’re always supporting them every day
And until they’re home safe – this prayer we will say

God Bless All our Troops
Stay safe always

Can You Hear Me?

Sweetheart can you hear me?
Out in that sandy place
For I need to know just how you are
And to see your smiling face

So many months have passed now
Since you went away
And I’ve not heard a single word
Telling me you’re ok

I know the job you’re doing
Makes contact somewhat hard
But I wish that you could send me
A letter or a card

My head’s in so much turmoil
My heart aches every day
I long for you to get in touch
So every night I pray

When I think about you
Out there on your own
I cannot help but cry out loud
“Oh God please bring him home”

Sweetheart I am so proud of you
For everything you’ve done
But not being able to tell you so
Just really isn’t fun

My heart will always be with you
You’re forever on my mind
I long for the day when you are home
And the sand pit is far behind

Sweetheart can you hear me?
Just let me hear your voice
Then at least my mind can rest at ease
But till then I have no choice

Get Your Backbone Back!

Look at you sitting there
Up in your ivory tower
Untrained, undisciplined
Which fool gave you the power?

You’re making decisions
About these terrible wars
But do you actually know?
What we are really fighting for

You send our forces out to fight
Whilst we loved ones merely stand and wait
How many more lives must be sacrificed?
Whilst you ponder on their fate

Those men and women are fighting
For their country and their Queen
But would YOU put their shoes on
And tread where they have been?

On one hand you praise them
Then on the other you berate
You ought to make your minds up
No wonder this country’s in such a state

Start listening to the masses
Stop pandering to the few
Forget this PC rubbish
Let common sense reign true

It’s time this country’s rulers
Stood behind our Union Jack
And made OUR Britain Great again
Get your backbone back!

Soldiers Prayers

As we finally get to sleep
We pray that our souls you’ll safely keep
We ask for calm as we find our beds
Let us rest our weary heads

We’ve been on ops all day and night
Battling insurgents in a gruelling fight
Praying that each other shall come to no harm
Sticking together as true brothers in arms

Thoughts of our loved ones safe at home
Locked in our hearts so we’re never alone
We are tired and dirty but will never back down
A soldier’s grit is always renown

So when the morn comes round again
We hope for peace in this sandy plain
Let us look back on our ops as we rest
And know in our hearts that we’ve done our best

Please keep us all sane before we yell
Get us out of this place called hell
Take us home to our loved ones so dear
The end of our tour is drawing near

Let us arrive back safe and sound
Back with our feet on our home ground
Let us come home to a welcoming crowd
To a medal parade when we all stand proud

Let us remember forever our brothers who’ve died
Let their memories live on in our hearts with pride
Let their spirits shine down from the stars up above
Know that they are resting in peace with all of our love

Rest in Peace

Brave soldier we are so proud of you
Your country cannot ask for more
You’ve made the ultimate sacrifice
Now you’re knocking on Heaven’s door

Rest in peace brave soldier
You served Queen and country well
The Lord above is calling you
You’re free at last, from hell

It’s time for you to take your place
Among those soldiers who passed over before
For like them you’re now a star in the skies up above
Shining down on earth forever more

Brave soldier you’ll never be forgotten
Know that your family still love you and care
And you’ll stay in the hearts of your brother’s in arms
So your memory will always be there

We will not say goodbye to you Soldier
But rather ‘See you soon’
For one day we will join you up there
In those stars above the moon

So let the Angels guide you
To the ‘special’ stars above
To your final resting place
Where you can rest in peace with God’s love
